What happens on the tour?
Ghosts of cigar magnates, con men, Cuban revolutionaries, and lovers will guide you down brick streets past cigar factories, social clubs and casitas (the original cigar factory worker homes) into their sometimes horrifying, occasionally glamorous, and always captivating world. With the help of our narrator, the ghosts will take you back in time and entertain you with true, evocative stories of the characters and places that make Ybor City such a fascinating district to explore.
Is the tour really too scary for children?
The ghost of The Dreamslayer tells the true story of how he murdered his family in somewhat graphic detail, so we would not recommend the tour for young children.
My walking map looks like it is cut-off. Is there a problem?
No, the map is purposely printed at an angle. We liked it that way.
What if I can’t print out the map?
Don’t worry! You can see the map on your phone or ipod, or android. Frankly, the narrator directs your steps, so the map isn’t critical to following and enjoying your tour!
Where do I start the tour?
Our tour begins in front of Centro Ybor, located on 7th Avenue and 16th Street. If you are driving to Ybor City, we suggest that you park in the Centro Ybor Garage, located between 15th and 16th Streets and 6th and 7th Avenues. It is easy, inexpensive and safe. If you are taking the streetcar to Ybor City, get off at the Centro Ybor stop.
What if I don’t have time to take the tour before I leave Tampa?
One of the great things about Ghost Walk is you can take it home with you! The ghosts will travel with you. You don’t have to be in Ybor City to enjoy our stories.
